A fun electric conversion project of a rusty & beat up old Polaris ATV with a blown 2-stink engine. It now runs off four 22Ah, 12v Odyssey batteries connected in series for 48 volts. The Alltrax motor speed controller is software limited to 9.6 kilowatts and it used an Advanced DC motor. All of the electronics are under the old fuel tank with the bottom cut out. The oil tank fill cap was removed and that's where I put the battery gage. The thumb throttle is the original unit converted to solid state using a hall device and a magnet. The electronics in the little box provide power to the throttle and modify the signal to one the stock Alltrax controller recognizes. Lighting is all LED except for the headlight which I converted to HID to also serve as a work light. 12v power for the lights and contactor is provided by a 48v/12v DC-DC converter. It's geared about 14 to1, uses the original F/N/R transmission and is capable of about 15 MPH. The front struts lots their damping oil a long time ago, hence the clunking going over bumps. I did all of the work including fixing the $15 eBay sourced camcorder used to shoot this video.
